Out-of-State Licenses: A Lottery Draw System Out-of-state hunters must enter a lottery to obtain waterfowl licenses. The success rate for securing a 10-day license has averaged around 65% over the past few years. Groups of up to six can apply together, increasing the chances of at least one person in the group drawing a tag. Guests who apply annually can expect to draw a license approximately every other year. Self-Guided Waterfowl Hunting For those who prefer a self-guided adventure, Double P Ranch provides the essential equipment to make your hunt successful. Guests have access to decoys, duck boats, and layout blinds. Our knowledgeable guides assist in directing hunters to productive hunting spots in and around the lodge. Please note that our guides are unable to assist with hunts on public land.
Guided Waterfowl Hunts Many of our guests choose to hire a waterfowl guide for one or two days to maximize their experience. Guided hunts are a luxurious option, with guides extensively scouting prime hunting locations prior to each day's outing. The rate for guided hunts is approximately $250 per guest per day for parties of four. These guided experiences often result in higher success rates and unforgettable memories.

A Typical Guided Duck Hunt at Double P Ranch
A guided duck hunt at Double P Ranch begins with the anticipation of a well-planned and expertly scouted experience. The day starts early, as your guide meets you before dawn to discuss the plan for the hunt, review safety guidelines, and answer any last-minute questions.
Your guide will have already scouted the best locations, selecting a prime spot based on waterfowl activity, weather conditions, and migration patterns. Depending on the plan, you might hunt over water on a secluded pond, lake, or marsh, or set up in a field where ducks are known to feed.
The $395/day rate includes:
$300 deposit per hunter. Deposits are non-refundable. If you cannot come at the time of your reservation, you may come at another available date in that season. Deposits cannot be carried over to the following fall. If fewer hunters arrive than scheduled, the remainder of the deposit will not be applied as payment toward your final bill.
