Budge's Wilderness Lodge sits 40 miles from the nearest hard-surfaced road and is surrounded by Wilderness on three sides. From here, it's foot and horse traffic only. When elk hunting out of our main lodge, you'll enjoy cozy log cabin accommodations. These are the original cabins built by Ed Budge in the 1920s. Of course we've made some upgrades since then, including simple bathrooms, lights, and propane heat. Between the new mattresses, the comfortable linens and a spectacular backcountry setting, you might feel like settling in long term.
Our lodge-based elk hunts include five full days of hunting, six nights accommodations and meals.
Hunters can expect to start their day with a hearty breakfast in the main lodge. Then, we'll saddle up a before daylight and strike off into the wilderness. The game plan will vary based on the season and conditions, but our guides will put you in the best possible position for an opportunity. In some cases, we will return to the lodge for a simple lunch. Otherwise, we will provide a sack lunch for the day. When we return to the lodge after dark, a home-cooked dinner will be waiting. Then, you're welcome to relax in the lodge or head back to your own cabin for some rest.
Our hunts are typically guided with a ratio of 2 hunters per guide. 1-on-1 hunts are available upon request.
