Ruffed Grouse & Upland Hunting in the Catskill Mountains

Guided upland hunting for ruffed grouse and migratory woodcock! We hunt all wild birds on public land throughout the Catskills, Mowhawk Valley, and Central New York. Our coverts [pronounced 'covers'] are full of prime aged grouse and woodcock habitat; from overgrown apple trees to aspen stands, rock walls and alder bottoms - we hunt thick cover to find and flush the king of the upland gamebirds! We hunt over pointing dogs and welcome guests to bring their own pointing or flushing dog! Our typical flush rates exceed the state average, but we encourage guests to hunt at least two half or full days to experience what our coverts have to offer.

Weapon Details
We suggest 16, 20, or 28 gauge shotguns. Double guns preferred. Semi-automatics require prior approval. Shot shell recommendations are standard 2.5" or 2.75" target loads in 7.5 shot. Non toxic is not required.
We always suggest safety glasses, as our cover is thick! Sturdy boots are a must. Hunters should wear, at minimum, an orange vest and hat.
Pricing Details
Half Day, 1 or 2 hunters $475.00 Full Day, 1 or 2 hunters $600.00 Add 3rd hunter, +$125.00
We include use of upland gear such a vest, hat, glasses, or double gun as needed. Full days include a field lunch, if desired!
Camp/Accommodations
We hunt public land with many options for air bnbs, motels, or rentals nearby. We are happy to make suggestions based on the area we are hunting.
Permit & Tag Application Process
A New York State regular hunting license is required. Licenses can be purchased online through the Dept. of Environmental Conservation or at a local sporting goods store. Woodcock hunters must register for the Harvest Information Program [HIP #] as well.
