A true wilderness hunt. We hunt off the grid and well into the deep woods. We go where the majority of hunters are not willing to go or can't.

All our hunts are fair chase and these are wild animals, which mean there are NO GUARANTEES. There are many factors outside of our control that will affect our trips for a good or bad hunt. We are committed in providing you with the best hunt we can. Limits do not happen every day of the season, but your guides will always be professional, keep a positive attitude, and will provide all knowledge and equipment necessary for a safe and enjoyable hunt. Remember this is a 6 day hunt.

What to Expect

You should expect a hunt of a lifetime You should expect the staff of Deer Pond Outfitters to give %100. I spend several weeks in the bush finding several target bulls that meet your expectations and then we go after that animal as weather and wind permits.

What we expect from you. We expect you to have a positive attitude, follow all state laws and rules, and conduct yourself in a safe manner at all times. We expect to be informed of any physical disabilities and health conditions that may or may not affect your ability to pursue your target species.

Recommended Cartridges There are vast options of appropriate firearm calibers and cartridge combinations to swiftly and humanely kill a moose. The most important factor is marksmanship and shot placement. However, it is important to choose a combination that has a bullet weight and terminal ballistics that is powerful enough for moose. Magnum cartridges can help with this, but are not necessary to efficiently kill a moose. It is important to remember that a .17 and .22 caliber rimfires are not legal calibers for moose.

• Hunt Packages are non-refundable
• Packages booked within 30 days of the hunt must be paid fully at the time of booking

Cancellation Policy

• No rain checks unless schedule permits
• Cancelled hunts are not refunded, but a replacement might be found

Spike camps in remote locations

Physical Requirements

Must inform Deer Pond Outfitters of any and all physical disabilities and or limitations.

• A release form will be reviewed and signed before the hunt begins
• Maine's terrain is very diverse. Ranging from swamps filled with overgrown alders to mountainous hills.
• even for the physically fit it is a very demanding hunt

Permit & Tag Application Process

To hunt for moose in Maine, you will need to either hold a permit or be chosen by a permit holder as their sub-permittee. Due to high demand, Maine moose permits are administered in three ways only: through a chance lottery, a competitive auction, and a small allocation for disabled veterans. The 2023 Moose Permit Lottery will open in February 2023. Applications will be accepted online only through May 15, 2023 at 11:59 pm (ET).
