The Gredos Ibex is the largest and among the darkest of Spain's four ibex subspecies, and without doubt the most iconic. Its majestic, lyre-shaped horns with deep, sweeping curvature make it instantly recognizable and highly coveted by international mountain hunters. These animals live in the highest, most rugged peaks of the Sierra de Gredos, where sharp senses, wary behavior, and demanding terrain combine to deliver a truly authentic mountain hunt, earned step by step. Bucks often move in small groups through much of the year, but during the rut they turn solitary and intensely competitive, creating unforgettable moments of dominance displays and horn-clashing battles that make a Gredos hunt as dramatic as it is rewarding.
A classic fair-chase mountain stalk in the rugged granite peaks of the Sierra de Gredos, guided 1x1 by a specialist who knows the ground and the wind. Expect long glassing sessions, strategic approaches, and challenging terrain, this is a true mountain hunt where every opportunity is earned. Trophy-wise, you'll be pursuing mature billies known for their deep, lyre-shaped horns and strong mass. During the rut, you may also witness intense ibex activity, including dominance displays and clashes. We handle permits and logistics and place you in comfortable local accommodations close to the hunting area, so you can focus fully on the experience.

Our accommodations are carefully selected local hotels and traditional countryside lodges (casas rurales) located right in the hunting area. They're family-run, warm, and welcoming, offering authentic regional character, great home-style food, and the comfort you want after a full day in the mountains, so you stay close to the action and feel at home throughout the trip.
This hunt can be adapted to the hunter. In many areas we can use horses to reduce the amount of hiking and make access easier. If you prefer to go on foot, you should be in at least moderate physical condition, as the terrain is mountainous, beautiful ridgelines and established trails, but you can still expect to cover roughly 3–6 miles per day depending on the day's plan, weather, and where the ibex are located.
We hunt in a mix of 100% private areas and a protected Natural Park. All required permits and tags are arranged in advance. When hunting in the Natural Park, a certified mountain ranger/warden (Guarda) accompanies the hunt to ensure full compliance and a smooth, well-managed experience.
