The Pyrenean Chamois, or "isard", is considered the jewel of
mountain hunting in the Pyrenees. The combination of steep, rocky
terrain, unpredictable weather, and elevated altitudes makes this one
of the most demanding and rewarding stalking hunts in all of Europe.
This hunt is a true high-mountain adventure, challenging,
unpredictable, and deeply satisfying. For those passionate about
authentic alpine hunting, the Pyrenean Chamois offers an unforgettable

Animal Characteristics:
• Shoulder height: 29–30 inches (74–76 cm)
• Weight: 55–90 lbs (25–41 kg)
• Males grow elegant black horns with sharp hooks, and their winter
coats turn rich and dark, perfect for trophies.
What to Expect
The Pyrenean Chamois (Isard) hunt is a true high-mountain fair-chase experience in the Pyrenees, big views, steep slopes, and sharp, technical terrain. You'll hunt 1x1 with a professional guide, glassing from high vantage points and then making careful approaches where wind, angles, and footing matter. Expect a demanding but incredibly rewarding day in wild country, with real stalking and exciting shot opportunities, plus smooth logistics, permits handled in advance, and comfortable local accommodation close to the hunting area.
Gear & Equipment
- Base layers: 2 sets (thermal top + bottoms, merino or synthetic).
- Mid layer: fleece or breathable insulated layer.
- Insulation: packable down or synthetic jacket.
- Outer shell: waterproof/windproof jacket.
- Pants: durable mountain pants (softshell) + lightweight waterproof over-trousers.
- Boots: broken-in waterproof mountain boots with good grip.
- Socks: 2–3 pairs of technical (preferably merino).
- Gloves: thin shooting gloves + warm gloves.
- Head/neck: warm beanie and neck gaiter.
- Essential accessories
- Binoculars (8x or 10x) + comfortable harness/strap.
- Daypack (20–30 L) with rain cover.

Terms & Conditions
Payment Information
- Deposit (20%) is required to confirm your booking. The deposit is non-refundable once the hunt is within 4 months of the start date.
- Second payment (50%) of the total hunt price is due 4 months before the hunt start date.
- Final balance (30%) is due 1 week before the hunt start date.
- Any bank fees, transfer fees, or currency conversion costs are the responsibility of the client unless agreed otherwise.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancelled hunts are not refunded.
- If you must cancel, we may assist in finding a replacement hunter. If a suitable replacement is confirmed and pays in full, we may, at our discretion, transfer your paid amounts to the replacement booking (minus any non-recoverable costs already incurred such as permits, reservations, logistics, or admin fees).
Gratuities
- Recommended tip for the ranger/guide: USD 150.

Our accommodations are carefully selected local hotels and traditional countryside lodges (casas rurales) located right in the hunting area. They're family-run, warm, and welcoming, offering authentic regional character, great home-style food, and the comfort you want after a full day in the mountains, so you stay close to the action and feel at home throughout the trip.

We offer hunting areas with varying levels of accessibility, and we'll match the terrain to each hunter's goals and comfort level.

We hunt on 100% private areas with no middlemen, giving us full control of access and management, and the ability to consistently deliver top-end trophies.
