Yukon • Grizzlies are a trophy experience of a lifetime! There is a good population of grizzlies within the area, as they are managed well, so it is not uncommon to spot or see signs of bears throughout your hunt. The Yukon has become the world's hunting destination for a first class Alaska/Yukon Moose. The Alaska/Yukon Moose are of the largest subspecies of Moose within North America. The average span of their antlers range from 57"-60" but the Tombstone is known for moose that exceed 70". We hunt both Fannin (Stone) and Dall Sheep. You will notice a wide variety of color ranging from dark Stone to light Dall. The Tombstone has taken exceptional Mountain Caribou every year. We have a good population of the local Hart River herd in our area. Mountain Caribou are an excellent add-on to our sheep and moose hunts, or can be a separate hunt throughout our season.

Alaska • Brown Bear hunting the Alaska Peninsula, bordering the Pacific Ocean and the Aleutian Range to the inland side. This is Native owned land skirting the fishing village of Chignik Bay. We are the exclusive use Outfitters for this untraveled area. Prized for it's savory flesh and the massive and impressive horn, the Alaskan Dall Sheep is one of the more rewarding species to hunt. The habitat of the Dall Sheep is an awe inspiring place to be, perched above the Alaskan bush line, glaciers and snow capped peaks are elemental. Our moose hunting season begins Sept. 1 – Sept. 25. Vast Alaska actively hunts the Chugach Range in units 13D and 14A and the Alaska Peninsula in unit 9E which is a federal concession. Hunting the Chugach Range is through the permit lottery. Alaska Goat Hunting season is Aug 10 – Oct. 15. The Mountain Goat is another of the high mountain inhabitants of the Chugach Range. They are one impressive animal, which has evolved specifically for steep travel.

Alaska/Yukon Moose Hunting in Alaska Self-Guided Float Moose HuntsStarting from $14,000

Takotna • Self-Guided Float Moose Hunts The second type of hunt we offer is a float hunt. Many people insist on a float hunt. A float hunt starts at one point and ends at a designated point downriver. Between the two points, we are unable to land and check on you. The advantages of a float hunt are that you are able to hunt much more area and sometimes an area that is more remote and less hunted. The disadvantages are that you have to set up and breakdown camp several times, usually in the dark, and every time you stop, you must unload your moose from the raft and hang it up. We are not able to land and take out your moose when you kill it. You must haul it with you for the entire float, hanging it up every night. Moose floats are 60-120 river miles. Floats can be very rewarding, but you must be able to stop and hunt for a couple of days when you see good moose signs, not just float all the time, hoping to float up on a moose and kill it from the raft. But if you want to hunt this way, you must break camp in the dark and be floating in daylight; then float for only a couple of hours, camp during the day, and start floating again about 2 hrs. before dark and float until it's too dark to shoot. Then set up camp in the dark. This is an excellent way to hunt, but it is not for everyone as it can be very physically challenging. We are happy to book whichever type of hunt you like and would be happy to discuss the pros and cons of both with you. These hunts are based on a minimum of two people and are on an 11-day schedule, with day 1 and day 11 being fly-in/out of the bush days and 9 full days of hunting.

Self Guided Fixed Camp Moose Hunt Alaska/Yukon Moose Hunting in AlaskaStarting from $14,000

Takotna • We drop you off on a stretch of river in the "Land of the Monster Moose" where we can take off and land with a full load. You set up your camp and hunt from that spot with a boat and motor provided by us. You can realistically hunt approximately a five-ten-mile radius from your camp. There are a lot of oxbow lakes and sloughs off the river that are excellent hunting, and water is always close, making your packing much easier than carrying moose meat out long distances on your back. What makes this hunt popular is that you are in one spot on a stretch of river where you can learn it and get to know the moose patterns, find where the moose are frequenting and spend time hunting and calling them. We fly the river daily (weather permitting), so on the fixed camp hunts, when you kill your moose, you can contact us, we will put you on our schedule to pick up your moose as soon as possible and bring it back to McGrath for processing. Having the ability to hunt from one location has many benefits and one is you can hunt all day and come back to a comfortable camp. Lastly, no hidden fees or trophy fees. We encourage you to purchase a black bear tag as well as harvest up to ten wolves per person.

Alaska • Red Bear Guides Moose hunts are nothing less than spectacular! We have a strong population of giant bulls in our area. Hunters may hunt directly out of the lodge or be spiked out in the Alaskan bush depending on where we find our moose. Also ATV's and Argos are used to get the hunters to and from their hunting areas. Some of the best Moose hunting is done right out of the lodge. Moose season in our area runs from August 20th through September 25th which is the beginning of the "Rut". Moose average 58 to 65 inches with 70 plus taken or seen every year. Other animals that can be taken are Grizzly, Black bear, Wolf and Wolverine. All trophies will be skinned, ears, lips and paws split, salted and sent in to a taxidermist in Anchorage where then the hunter can decide what they want done. All hunts are based on one guide per client unless you choose to hunt with a friend. 2:1 hunts can be arranged. Bow and rifle hunts are available. Scott is a bow hunter himself and knows what a bow hunter needs to get in range of their target. Most hunts are 8-10 days, but you should allow for 1-2 days on either side of your hunt for inclement weather. We access hunting areas either by plane or by covered jet boat. Most hunts require some hiking in steep terrain. Our guide use area has several rivers and lakes to access prime hunting areas.
